Keyano College partners with pipeline company

An investment from a local pipeline company will help fund non-destructive testing programming at Keyano College. The college signed an memorandum of understanding Jan. 10 with Acuren, a company specializing in providing NDT and inspection services to more than 80 locations across North America. These services include flaw and leak detection and evaluation, location determination, and physical and mechanical properties estimations.

The agreement value is anticipated to exceed $1 million annually. “In the last 35 years, only 18,000 people have become certified in this field, ranging from fabrication to oil and gas,” said Randy Curtis, general manager for the oilsands region of Acuren, in a release. “The ability to add locally trained individuals to the market will help industry greatly. Our business is to assess operating assets and provide services with reliability.” >
